Holding over 13 years experience in training and handling dogs, I specialise in busy working dogs with high drive who need help to harness this. I work to help create a bond of trust between you & your dog, so that you can have a busy, confident dog that gravitates towards and around you rather than onto other distractions. I am recognised by the Guild of Dog Trainers at Master Level.
I firmly believe that both you and your dog are a team. You work together and it’s important to understand each other and also to have fair boundaries in place so that this bond can build in a positive and efficient way, whereby you’re able to trust your dog and also allow it the freedom that it deserves. Ultimately, busy dogs need that freedom in a controlled way in order to fulfil their instinctual drive and it’s so important that the dogs learn this in order to be safe, not only for their own welfare but the welfare of other animals too.
I thoroughly enjoy working my dogs on shoots during the shooting season and will undertake both beating and picking up responsibilities with them. I also enjoy competing with my dogs and the challenges that come with this. There is always something else to learn and to train. I love being able to do all of the training with my own dogs and see it through into the field or in competition as for me, it gives me a purpose for putting in all of the hours of hard work together.
The people who I have met and who have supported me along the way are absolutely why I am where I am today; my love for dog training grew because of these people and I hope to do the same for you and your dog. Creating a bond of trust between you & your dog is absolutely one of the best feelings & I’d take great pleasure in helping you to achieve this
Hello, and thanks for visiting our website! My name is Mark Mayho and I am one of the partners at Bucks Canine.
I qualified as a canine behaviour consultant and dog trainer in 1999, then worked in training kennels and rescue centres training dogs until I founded Herts Canine in 2004 & then Bucks Canine in 2022 with Charlotte.
I specialise with dogs that have any type of behaviour problem from mild to the extreme. Things that I cover across the board range from all types of aggression, anxiety, various types of reactivity, resource guarding and much more. No problem is too big or too small.
I am very conscious that no dog, no owner and no household is the same. What works for one dog will not necessarily work for the next and therefore there is never a ‘one rule fits all’ approach to what what we do. I will always find a solution best suited for the family, the dog, and the scenario in which everyone is in making what I offer incredibly bespoke. The thousands of dogs and owners I have helped have all been different and I thrive in helping owners and dogs solve their problems so that everyone can move forwards in a happy, positive, and confident manner.
Whilst I hold in excess of 24 years experience, there is always something more to learn and current knowledge can always be built on and expanded. I am always learning and improving my understanding by attending courses and seminars on new methods which are backed by scientific understanding of dogs behaviours and how their minds work. In my opinion, anyone that thinks they know everything in this profession is dangerous, as evidence is always changing and advancing. It’s important to always be aware of these things in order to offer both the dogs and their owners the most fitting, suitable solution to their issue. I am also recognised by the Guild of Dog Trainers at Master level.
When I’m not working I’m kept busy with my own dogs which include a Golden Retriever, Springer Spaniel and quite a few Miniature Dachshunds!
